I'd Like To Get Involved

Ready to become a volunteer, vendor, sponsor or promoter of Meet Florida Meat?

Let's  Work Together

First Time at Meet Florida Meat?

Buying directly from a farmer is easier than you think:

You dont need to know your cuts, own a chest freezer, or have done this before. Meet Florida Meat was built to make buying directly from Florida producers approachable.

Decide What You Need

Shopping for this week or filling the freezer? Vendors offer everything from individual cuts to bulk orders & shares.

Browse & Preorder

Check out participating farms before the event. Watch our Facebook event page for preorder info to reserve exactly what you want.

Meet The Producer

Ask questions. Seriously, that's the whole point. Learn how they raise their animals, what they offer, and how to buy from them again later.

Keep It Cold

A rolling cooler or insulated bag makes shopping easy.  Product is frozen unless fresh is  preordered. Bulk ice sold on site.

Do I have to preorder?

No- but if you have your heart set on a particular farm, cut or product, we strongly recommend it. Vendors bring as much as they can, but demand is high, and some do sell out by the end of the day Saturday.

Because inventory is flexible due to other market commitments, we may not get preorder info from some farms and ranches until the week before the event. You can absolutely shop without preordering, but we recommend arriving early for best selection.

We're also arranging for a special group of vendors to bring fresh inventory on Sunday, so day 2 will have plenty worth driving for.

How much should I expect to spend?

Everyone's budget and freezer space is different.  If you've never had the chance to explore the pricing effects of the meat/grocery bid market & commodity subsidies, you might have a little sticker shock, especially when you consider there's no middle man.

Farm-direct pricing varies by producer, product and quantity, and some specialty items may cost more than their grocery-shelf counterparts. Larger orders often lower the price per pound, so consider splitting an order with trusted friends or family.

Setting aside $20 each week between mid-September and the event could give you nearly $500 to shop with.

For more info on why grocery prices are so different than farm direct, click here.

What if I have no idea what to buy?

That's totally fine, this event was built to help you learn.

Start with a budget and a few foods you know your family already eats.

Then ask vendors about sampler boxes, smaller packages and beginner friendly options.

You do not need to arrive knowing the difference between every cut, our producers are happy to help.

What if I don't have a huge freezer?

You can buy just a single steak, there's no minimum purchase.

Start small, split a larger order with smeone you trust, or ask vendors about future pickup and recurring orders options.

If you do decide to invest in a freezer, consider a freezer alarm with an app that you can check on your phone.

How do I pay?

All operations prefer cash. Almost all will accept cards, some may require an additional processing fee.

To reduce processing and wait times you may be asked to scan a QR code with a smartphone, there's info about how that works here ->: How To Use A QR Code

Local food curious?

No half-cow commitment is required:

Come Look Around

No shopping list needed.

Walk the event, see whats available, and meet the people producing Florida's food.

Try Something

Grab a hot meal and a cold beverage.

Discover the huge variety of products we offer, and take home whatever catches your eye.

Find Your Farm

The best part isn't necesarily what you buy that day. Our vendors are happy to take your call in the weeks and months after Meet Florida Meat as well.

Is it just meats?

It's called Meet Florida Meat, because buying a half cow isn't exactly on the "Florida: 101" brochure. But there's tons more to explore! Come for the intro to farm-direct meats, stay for everything that Florida's farmers & ranchers bring to the table.

Do I have to buy anything?

Nope! Bring a notepad and your walking shoes. (Might want to bring a reusable grocery bag just in case, our farmers are pretty irresistible.)

What if I get hungry?

We are definitely the event for you. We offer several types of food trucks, cold and hot beverages depending on the weather, snacks, desserts, baked goods, and of course the Great Scott Cafe  is open for your air-conditioned dining needs.

Can I bring my kids?

We would be sad if you didn't. Meet Florida Meat is a great way to experience grocery shopping at its peak. Our farmers and ranchers love to connect with the next generation to show them how important growing food is. There's also a wide range of kids activities: farm tours, gem mining, the Super Slide, the jumping pillow, the giant play castle, swings, and even strawberry picking (available seasonally)! We also consider the kiddos when planning our food truck assortment. Bring em!

Where can I stay if I want to attend both days?

Can I buy tickets yet?

We love the initiative, but not yet. Link from the host farm will be made available ASAP.

Is it still 2 days and rain or shine?

Absolutely. A lil' rain is way better to shop in than 900 degrees in the blinding sun. However, if we get warnings of extreme weather: (significant lightning, tornados, flooding, a comet, etc) we may consider rescheduling, but you would hear about it on our Facebook page first and then posted here on the website and via email soon after.

Any big changes from last year?

Not yet, except we've made the vendor areas bigger. Just like last year.  ...And the year before..... and the year before! We keep expanding and y'all keep filling it right back up. Thank you!
